Julie Evans, Partner

Julie heads the private client team and is a registered Contentious Trust and Probate Specialist (CTAPS), a Member of the Society for Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and a member of Solicitors for the Elderly which makes her one of the most qualified and experienced practitioners in this field in the County. Julie also specialises in taxation and deals with commercial property and business matters.

 
Martyn Evans, Partner
 
Martyn heads the insolvency team and is the only Solicitor in Cornwall who takes appointments as a fully bonded licensed Insolvency Practitioner. He regularly acts for both individuals and companies; advising creditors, debtors and directors. Martyn also has twenty years of commercial dispute resolution experience, dealing with contractual mediations, property litigation; professional negligence and Injunctions.
 
 
 
Mala Mandalia, Associate
 
Mala Mandalia qualified as a Family Law Solicitor in 1998 having completed her training in London following which she gained experience in several prominent legal practices before heading up the family department in a leading provincial firm.

Mala has dealt with a vast number of cases in relation to all aspects of family law including: divorce, separation, cohabitation disputes, pre-nuptial agreements, children matters, domestic violence. She specialises in dealing with financial issues arising from a relationship breakdown and civil partnerships to which she brings a commercial understanding.

 

Mala has also trained as a family law Mediator and a Collaborative lawyer to enhance her skills as a family solicitor. She is a member of Resolution and an Advanced Member of the Law Society Family Law Panel.Mala understands the emotional and practical issues surrounding a relationship breakdown. She is interested in the client as a person and offers a caring approach to their problems, whilst providing practical, efficient legal solutions. Clients feel that they can rely on her unwavering and sympathetic support throughout a difficult process and appreciate her tenacity and attention to detail.

In addition to her work as a Solicitor, Mala has additional qualifications as a Mentor/life coach, alternative health teacher/therapist and a personal development course trainer. She has written articles for a national children’s magazine.

Simon Rogers, Associate
 
Simon Rogers studied law in Bristol and headed up the property department in a small city firm before moving to Cornwall. He is already a well-known property lawyer in the region having led the residential team of a large local practice before joining brains to take on this role. He has experience both in residential and commercial property, specialising in country and waterside homes He believes that it is essential as a property lawyer to establish good working relations with agents, with an emphasis on keeping all the parties involved in the transaction fully up to date with how matters are progressing. He understands that whilst the buying of a home is an exciting prospect for clients, the procedure is often stressful and for most of us involves the biggest financial investment that we ever make. He brings an experienced, professional and efficient approach to conveyancing enabling your move to be as painless as possible.  
 
 
 
Leanne Symons, Solicitor
 
Leanne joined the firm in 2005 and after completing her training contract with the firm qualified at the beginning of 2008. Leanne specialises in all aspects of family matters together with civil litigation and compromise agreements.
 
 
 
Tom Wood, Solicitor
 
Tom studied Law in Wales and returned to Cornwall in 2006 where he gained three years experience in two large local practices in Civil Litigation, Commercial Property and Family. Tom joined the firm upon qualification in 2009 to specialise in Civil Litigation. Tom has experience in Property, Landlord and Tenant, Contract and Business Disputes while also undertaking debt collection matters. In addition to Dispute Resolution, Tom provides assistance to the Insolvency and Family Teams.
 
 
 
Joanna Vincent, Legal Executive
 
Jo joined the firm in 2003 and qualified as a Legal Executive in 2004. Jo is a member of our Property Department specialising in residential property matters
